Whichever way you look at it, this PM has handled things so poorly both domestically and internationally I’m feeling less ‘Australian’ with every week.

Whether it’s the bushfires, Covid, the environment, submarines and sexual assault, the list goes on and on and seemingly without any end in sight. Personally I’m exasperated with his and this government’s incompetence.

His most recent gaff included not wanting to go to the climate meeting in Glasgow because he was tired, knowing too well he had to confront the French President over the pulling of the submarine contract.

He duly refuted the fact that he lied to Macron, then leaked a private text message whilst trying to bring us, the great unwashed, into defending him with his comment, “I’m not going to cop that on behalf of Australians”.

Is this clown serious? How much longer are we going to have our intelligence insulted by this teflon coated imposter?

I don’t profess to know a lot about politics but I know an untrustworthy, insincere, arsehole when I see one. I would love to see how ‘Scomo’ would cope in an authentically Australian setting like the one in David Williamson’s play, ‘Don’s Party’.

For instance, in the movie of the play, I can imagine  ‘Scomo’ having a conversation with Ray Barrett’s superb Mal, the scurrilous left wing consultant. After five minutes, “Don’t take this as an insult fella, but you are a weak turd.”

Of course ‘Scomo’ did mix with ‘the people’ upon his return from Hawaii in bushfire ravaged regional NSW. That went well. He also popped into Victoria this week, made some pasta, got a haircut and espoused the virtues of electric vehicles after canning them two years ago. Magical.

Oh he did lay a wreath at the Shrine. I wonder what our fallen, who sacrificed everything to defend this amazing country, would say about a PM as cowardly and unaccountable as this one?

I was listening to the Opposition Leader, ‘Albo’ being interviewed by Virginia Trioli this morning on ABC radio and I’m not getting any substance from him that is likely to have me voting for Labor either. It’s the same old rhetoric that goes around and around in circles; uninspiring and devoid of ideas.

In my generation it was always left versus right. We were so conditioned to that paradigm and I feel so angry with myself for going along with it. Our kids and grandkids deserve so much better than these entitled old white men making decisions on their behalf.

One thing that this PM has certainly highlighted in droves is just how out of touch he is with the average Australian. There is no sense of genuine care or social justice especially evident in the handling of Christian Porter’s dalliances and million dollar legal donations.

I was scared to take a packet of post-it-notes home from the stationary cupboard when I was in corporate life! Politicians have to commit murder before they get the flick. I hope this misogynistic behaviour and sense of entitlement by our politicians hasn’t gone unnoticed by the kids of voting age.

What’s preventing change will be the apathy of the Australian public, who will mostly just care about their pockets come closer to next year’s election. There’s little we can do about that but if you are of the next generation and eligible to vote, this election will be a great opportunity to send a very clear message to both parties and have them stand up and take notice.

The result will be either blue or red, but by voting for an Independent you will at least be giving both parties a rightful smack in the mouth that could lead to more active listening and meaningful change.

There are a number of options out there but firstly it helps to join their party so they are eligible for the ballot, therefore making them available to support on election day. There is usually no cost involved and their policies are real, not token or for novelty purposes. Below are some parties to consider.

People, please use your vote wisely and let’s release these leeches from their stranglehold in Canberra! The majors will get in anyway, so we may as well provoke them into some level of critical thinking.
