Without sounding homoerotic here but Reyno was one of the best looking blokes to play at Werribee. No one knew that more than Reyno himself and I nicknamed him “Mirrors” as a result. The school teacher from Shepparton had played in a Premiership with Coburg in 1988 but had a falling out with Phil Cleary and arrived at WFC in 1992. As a good mate at Coburg with Tim Reinets, I’m not sure if he influenced Tim’s decision to come to WFC but we are forever grateful.

Reyno was a dependable old fashioned “utility” or “swingman” but primarily a high marking forward. His time at the club was interrupted by injury but he was an emergency for the 1993 GF. This song’s rhythm fitted perfectly with Reyno’s personality. The last verse relates to an indiscretion he had on field around that time. A cool cat who now has his own tribe at home up Shepparton way. Another great bloke we were privileged to play with in the early 90’s.

Enter “Reyno Reyno” sung to Donovan’s “Mello Yello”

I’m just mad about Coburg

And Coburg’s mad about me

And I’m just mad about Cleary

And Cleary’s mad about me

Chorus

They call me Reyno Reyno

They call me Reyno Reyno

They call me Reyno Reyno

I’m just mad about mirrors

And mirrors are mad about me

I’m just mad about mirrors

Because they look back at me

Repeat Chorus

I’m just mad about elbows

Umpires are mad about me

I’m just mad about elbows

The tribunal just loves to see me

Repeat Chorus
